Day 1 – Midnight Climb

At midnight, the adventure begins! Accompanied by a trained local guide, you will embark on the thrilling climb of Mount Oldoinyo Lengai, also known as the “Mountain of God” in the Maasai language. This active volcano, revered for its unique natrocarbonatite lava, offers one of the most challenging yet rewarding climbs in Tanzania. The trek to the summit and back, covering 11 kms round trip, takes approximately 10-12 hours. The steep slopes, rugged terrain, and starry night skies make this an unforgettable experience. Reaching the summit at dawn, you will be rewarded with breath taking views of an active volcano, Lake Natron, the surrounding Rift Valley, and if lucky, Mount Kilimanjaro on a clear day.

You’ll witness the surreal landscapes and learn about the lake’s fascinating ecosystem. Afterward, take a refreshing hike to the Ngare Sero Waterfalls, where cool, clear waters cascade through narrow gorges—a welcome treat after the heat and climb. Return to the camp in the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner, and relax under the African skies. Overnight stay at the camp
